These Mesh Network Access Points operate at 2.4 Ghz and have excellent connection abilities with self recognition ability via the software.
The range for the 100mW Access Point is between 300 -1000 feet and the 500 mW Access Point is between 1200 and 2100 feet.
The maximum antenna gain is 8dBi, so adding a higher db gain antenna is not going to increase range estimates.
